The Engineering and Process Design hub focuses on delivering maximum resource value by minimising project risk through prudent metallurgical design and review practices. A&B Mylec’s team of experienced CHPP process engineers utilise their extensive design and operational experience to deliver circuits and CHPPs that not only achieve high metallurgical efficiencies, but facilitate safe routine maintenance and operational access.

  • Concept, Pre-Feasibility & Feasibility Studies – completion of all engineering and reporting requirements at each of these study phases for any processing plant project to a level of technical integrity that is beyond reproach.
  • Process Design Review – independent third party review of process design at any project phase to ensure that all desired product quality, plant yield, throughput and functionality requirements will be met and delivered in the installed plant.
  • Circuit Evaluation and Optimisation – review of circuit design, control and metallurgical performance aspects to identify and deliver realistic and realisable operational benefits and solutions.
  • Process Control System Analysis and Design – analysis of plant control system’s capability to support optimised circuit and whole of plant performance. Utilising expertise in industry best practice CHPP control system design, effective functional specification and sequence documentation is used to ensure benchmark circuit stability and functionality is surpassed.
  • CHPP Configuration Options Analysis – utilising extensive in house and published metallurgical data, in conjunction with RESOURCE_MASTORTM simulation software, optimised CPP circuit configurations are identified on a gross revenue basis. For thermal coal resources, moisture prediction models are incorporated in this exercise to enable “bottom size analysis” (optimum plant product bottom size determination) where the optimum revenue position is identified from yield and product energy specification outcomes.
  • Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Equipment List Development – generation of nominal (balanced) and maximum (unbalanced) PFDs required for the preferred plant configuration for a given resource. From the produced PFDs, equipment items are selected based on the individual device loadings and pre-defined process design criteria enabling duty statements and long lead time item registers to then be developed.
  • P&ID Development – detailed P&IDs for new or existing sites can be developed using latest generation P&ID software incorporating fully cross referenced piping, instrumentation and valving lists to satisfy all safety and performance functionality.
  • CAPEX / OPEX Estimations – with A&B Mylec’s experience in fixed plant operation and projects, estimations of capital and operating costs can be established.
  • Contract Document Review and Design Criteria – A&B Mylec’s extensive experience reviewing contracts from both a technical and legal perspective ensures that the principles project expectations are successfully documented at project commencement. Importantly, document precedence aspects and ambiguity between legal and technical content is removed..
  • Performance Guarantee Contract Documentation & Assessment - establishing contractual requirements to align with the goals of the project are critical to the success of any project. Aligning project stages with clear and concise contractual project milestones enables all parties to clearly understand the aims of the project. A&B Mylec has extensive experience in documenting and assessing these project milestones.
  • Due Diligence Assessments – with unique design and operational expertise, the Engineering and Process Design personnel can offer impartial assessment of potential coal mine, resource and infrastructure purchases.
  • Project Management / Principal’s Engineer - acting in the role of Principal’s Engineer for a range of project types including circuit and plant modifications or upgrades, through to long term multiple disciplinary engineering programs and new CHPP installations. A&B Mylec’s deliverables can encompass all aspects of technical scope of work development, tender evaluation, progress management, design review and commissioning oversight.

The Engineering and Process Design hub has the experienced personnel to successfully minimise project risk and maximise project value and importantly ensure that all critical design elements are delivered in your installed plant.
